Unveiling the Mazda Tribute PDF Print E-mail
Sunday, 01 June 2008 01:00
The Ford Motor Company is responsible and the culprit behind the success and prestige that the Mazda Tribute has at present. Despite the fact that 2006 would be the last year that this vehicle would be manufactured, sales of this vehicle has not been greatly affected. The life story of the Mazda Tribute had started back in the year 2001. It had taken the spot and niche that the Mazda Navajo left vacant when its production was entirely halted. However, this time around, when the Mazda Tribute is not manufactured anymore, its spot would be taken by the upcoming Mazda CX 7.

The Mazda Tribute has been built and mounted on the FF CD2 platform of the Ford Motor Company. This same platform has been used by the previous front wheel drive Mazda 626 vehicle. It has been designed as a compact crossover sport utility vehicle and this vehicle holds four doors. It is related to the Ford Escape and the Mercury Mariner. It has been said that its competition in the automobile market include the Jeep Liberty, the Toyota RAV4, the Hyundai Tucson, and the Honda CR-V.

During its introduction, the Mazda Tribute was unveiled to have been equipped with either a 2.0 L Mazda engine with four cylinders or the Ford Duratec 3.0 L V6 engine. However, if you do travel to Europe, you would find out that the Mazda Tribute is currently being sold as the Ford Maverick. And this vehicle was equipped with the 2.0 L Ford Zetec engine and had a manual transmission system as part of it. However, another choice for the engine was a 3.0 L Duratec engine with an automatic transmission system.

Mazda claims that the Mazda Tribute is the right vehicle not only for on road driving but also for off road traversing. Whatever the kind of terrain that there could be, the Mazda Tribute could definitely handle them. The engine is guaranteed to be lightweight yet provides enough and good power. Aside from power, the Mazda Tribute actually has been made available with various choices. As per the interior, interested parties could choose between cloth and leather material for the seats and the color choices for these materials are Dark Flint and Medium Pebble. The exterior color choices, on the other hand, comprise of Blazing Copper, Stormfront Gray, Classic White, Dark Titanium, Mystic Black, Pebble Ash, Platinum, Redfire, and Lapis Blue.

Mazda RX 4, Luce Rotary: Different Names, Same Vehicle PDF Print E-mail
Saturday, 17 May 2008 07:00
In Japan, the Mazda RX 4 was known as the Luce Rotary. Despite different names, though, the Mazda RX 4 and the Luce Rotary was still the very same vehicle from the Mazda Motor Corporation which has its headquarters mainly located in Hiroshima, Japan.

The Mazda RX 4 has had other contemporaries, equals, and peers that also are under the Mazda brand’s line up of vehicles. Each of its peers are rotary powered. Contemporaries for the Mazda RX 4 include the Mazda RX 2 and the Mazda RX 3. The former was based actually on the Mazda Capella, as with the latter, it was actually based on the Mazda Familia.

Comparing the Mazda RX 4 with the two vehicles, the Mazda RX4 2 and the Mazda RX 3, the Mazda RX 4 is still larger than both. Despite that, the Luce/929 chassis that the latter holds is the very same one that both of the other two vehicles use. The Luce/929 chassis actually replaced the R130. This replacement was done in October of 1972. Originally, the Mazda RX 4 was made available as a hardtop coupe and also as a sedan. Come the year 1972, this vehicle make was then made available as a station wagon. The station wagon was introduced so as to replace the Savanna Wagon.

When it was first introduced, the Mazda RX 4 held a 120 horsepower 12A engine. However, later on in 1974, this was replaced by the larger 13B engine. This was made for export purposes. This new engine gave the Mazda RX 4 the chance to be environment friendly for it was what Mazda called the “AP” version. “AP” stood for “anti pollution”. The vehicle also used a strut type independent suspension in the front part as with a solid axle in the rear. The brake discs were mounted in the front and the drum brakes were installed in the rear. The vehicle held a curb weight that could get as low as 2620 pounds.

Mazda RX 7: Small But Terrible PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 01 May 2008 22:01
The Mazda RX 7 is a sports car that had started in production in 1978. It is also known as the Savanna and the Efini RX 7. The first batch of this vehicle actually went to be part of the affordable sports car segment. It held various competitors that include the Datsun/Nissan 280 Z. The Mazda RX 7 holds a unique twin rotor Wankel rotary engine as well as a sporty front midship rear wheel drive layout. It was also well balanced and was very appropriate for racing because of the latter. This sports car actually replaced the Mazda RX 3. However, the fact is that both the Mazda RX 7 and the Mazda RX 3 were sold in Japan as the Mazda Savanna.

Sometimes, being small is an advantage. That is possibly why the Mazda RX 7 was able to make its way to the top. It could work in racing. It could also be a good element during heavy traffic. However, even if this vehicle is small, it has been packed with excellent power.

This is due to the Mazda RX 7’s rotary engine that has been equipped with triangular rotors that takes the place of pistons when it is compared with ordinary type of engines. Once these triangular rotors are in place, the engine is able to provide a smooth and responsive performance so much so that no matter what kind road the Mazda RX 7 may be on would prove not to be a hindrance or an annoyance. These triangular rotors could work well with the twin rotor twin turbocharged engine as well as a manual transmission or even an automatic transmission. Its five speed manual transmission could provide the machine some 255 units of unbridled horsepower.

Take a ride inside the Mazda RX 7’s interior and one would find two sporty seats. These seats do not look out of place and it works so well as per the whole package of this sports car. There are various amenities and they have been strategically positioned so that each could be easily reached and operated by the driver. This vehicle holds a highly functional air conditioning unit, an electric roof, and a steering wheel clad in leather just to name a few. This sports car both shows great appeal not only from its exterior but its interior as well.
